RESTAURANT HOLDS CASINO NIGHT FOR OUR CHARITY
GET out your glad rags for a special black-tie evening in aid of the Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund. Staff at La Gabbia, in Boyd Street, Ouseburn, Newcastle, will celebrate the first anniversary of the restaurant by hosting a casino night to raise money for the charity.
It will be the first in a series of themed events planned by restaurant owner Louise Smith to support the fund over coming months.
Louise said: “For the first birthday at La Gabbia we will be celebrating with a casino night in which we have live entertainment, magicians and much more.
“We have decided to adopt the Sunshine Fund because we thought it was a very viable charity to put our money into and I’m looking forward to holding many more nights throughout the rest of the year in aid of it.
“All donations on the evening will go to the fund. We are all really looking forward to it and it’s going to be a night to remember.”
A special casino will be set up in the restaurant and staff will be collecting money and holding a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.
The next fundraising night will be a wine-tasting evening at the end of September.
Jo Harris, Sunshine Fund manager, said: “I’m delighted that La Gabbia has chosen to support the Sunshine Fund by running a series of themed nights at the restaurant.
“The fundraising starts with first birthday celebrations and a casino night, then a jazz night, a comedy night, wine-tasting and a Halloween night are all to follow. It’s fantastic that we have so much support from local businesses and I would just like to thank everyone at the restaurant for working so hard and dedicating their time to raise money for the fund.”
The fund makes a massive difference to the lives of disabled and seriously ill children in the North East through the provision of essential equipment, learning aids and custom-built apparatus.
The fund is able to provide grants through the fundraising efforts of Chronicle readers and the support of many local businesses.
Tickets for the casino night at La Gabbia cost £30 each and a percentage of the price will be donated to the fund.
Also included in the cost is a champagne reception, a four-course meal, entertainment and a £5 casino voucher to play on the evening.
The event takes place on Friday, September 19. Doors open at 7pm.
