Miss Newcastle contest to raise cash for fund
Could you be Miss Newcastle 2008 ? If so, it’s time to get your entry in.
Hundreds of applications for the coveted title have been flowing into Tyne Tees Models, Newcastle. They will be whittled down to just 20 for the heat at Newcastle Marriot Hotel, Gosforth Park, Newcastle. Beauties will take to the catwalk and each one will be interviewed by the host on stage in front of a panel of judges including Britain’s Next Top Model winner Lucy Radcliffe and Miss England 2007, North Yorkshire’s Georgia Horsley.
The event will also include an auction and raffle which will raise money for the Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund. The fund provides equipment that makes a significant improvement to lives of disabled and seriously ill children in the North East, for which funding is not easily available from other sources.
Sunshine Fund manager Jo Harris said: “The Miss Newcastle event will be a great night out and a great fundraiser for the Sunshine Fund. We are really looking forward to this year’s event and are already getting excited about it. “Not only will it be an enjoyable evening for all the guests, but it will help to raise much-needed funds for sick and disabled children.”
Hosted by Simon Robertson, the evening will include entertainment from jazz singer Jason Isaacs. The winner of the competition on May 8 will be entered into the semi-finals for Miss England and if successful go on to the Grand Final and then Miss World. Lesley Lister said: “There will be only one winner on the night and they will go into the final for Miss England. Hopefully they will then go on to Miss World. “We are getting really excited about the night, it should be a lot of fun. “It is a night for the ladies. We have lots of surprises throughout and hundreds of applications. “They are still flowing through the door so it’s going to be tough deciding. We’re very excited to have sponsorship for the event from Nu-Age Medical Spa.”
