Glamorous night set to boost funds for youngsters
A NEW club is trying to bring the glamour back to weekends and give a much-needed boost to the Sunshine Fund . Frangipani – which is downstairs at As You Like It in Jesmond, Newcastle – is bringing cabaret back to the North East this autumn and giving all charity money it makes to the fund .
As the nights begin to cool, the venue is promising to provide among the hottest entertainment around.
Duncan Fisher , from Apartment bar which owns the venue, said he was excited about the nights and the fact he has adopted the Sunshine Fund as his charity for the year. He said: “We chose the Sunshine Fund because it’s local and we like the fact that the assistance is given often towards smaller items which everyone else takes for granted every day like adapted bikes or computers.”
This Friday sees Frangipani present a burlesque night which they say is “not for the faint-hearted – despite the tasteful tassels.”
Anyone who would like more information about the venue should call As You Like It on (0191) 281 2277, e-mail info@asyoulikeitjesmond.com or log on to www.asyoulikeitjesmond.com
Prices are from £29.95.
The Sunshine Fund pays for equipment which makes a significant improvement to the lives of sick and disabled children living in the North East. Without it the children who benefit would have to go without the equipment because of funding restrictions.
Sunshine Fund manager Jo Harris said: “This means a lot to the fund and we are very grateful to all at Apartment and As You Like It for their generosity.
“We are always in need of extra funds and are pleased to be connected to this business.”
Anyone who would like information about the Sunshine Fund , or who would like to donate money to the charity, should call Jo Harris on (0191) 201 6289.
