Annual variety extravaganza to be one of the best

A host of North East stars are gearing up for this year’s Stars on a Sunday show.

The Journal  Tyne   Theatre  is once again playing host to the annual Sunshine Fund event, which this year promises to be one of the best ever.

Organiser Leah Bell, one of the region’s best known performers and choreographers, is organising this year’s event and says she is really looking forward to it.

She said: “It’s going really well. We have got a cast of 98 – so we need another two to make it to 100 – and everyone is putting a tremendous effort into it all.

“It’s getting bigger and bigger every year and people really enjoy it.

“It’s an old-fashioned variety show and people are already buying the tickets. A lady stopped me in Newcastle the other day to say she had just reserved two boxes.

“At the moment the kids from the Sandra Reavely  Theatre  School are rehearsing and they are fantastic.”

Sunshine Fund manager Jo Harris said: “This is always a fantastic event that raises much-needed funds for us and this year’s looks like it will be no exception.

“ Leah  does a fantastic job organising everything and we are very grateful to her for all of the hard work she puts in to make this night as memorable as possible.

“I am really looking forward to it.”

The event takes place on Sunday, September 16, and tickets cost £12.
