Ferry Company's Staff Hope To Raise Thousands As They Join Run
THIS group are going to sail to the finish of this year’s Sunshine Run. DFDS Seaways are taking part in the Chronicle’s charity fundraiser which will see folk pound around Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides.
Between the 10 members of staff taking part in the 5km event, the DFDS Seaways crew hope to raise £2,500 for the Sunshine Fund.
Lisa Chenery, from DFDS, said: “As a firm we are always keen to support the local community in whatever way we can and the Evening Chronicle Sunshine Run is an excellent opportunity to do just that.”
The 5km Sunshine Run is the flagship event in the Sunshine Fund’s calendar and sees hundreds of people hit the Quayside.
Fundraiser and event organiser Angela Jepson said: “It’s great that DFDS Seaways has decided to take part in the run for yet another year. It’s brilliant that they have shown continuing support to our charity and I would encourage other teams and individuals to enter.”
Runners will go the length of Newcastle Quayside from Wesley Square, then back over the Millennium Bridge to finish in Baltic Square in Gateshead.
The event will take place from 7pm on July 7.
