TALENTED TEEN'S OUR LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE
13 May 2010
Britain's Got Talent Hopeful To Perform To Diners For Charity RISING star Georgia Overton will be singing in support of the Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund after she wowed the nation on popular Saturday night show Britain’s Got Talent. The 17-year-old, of Acklington, near Morpeth, in Northumberland, who won over celebrity judge Simon Cowell with her powerful audition, will now perform for diners at trendy Newcastle restaurant As You Like It on Sunday.
Georgia, a Newcastle College music student who made it through the first round of the TV talent contest with her rendition of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good, is to sing two sets of songs for guests at the special fundraising lunch being held in aid of the Sunshine Fund.
She said: “I seemed to get a really good response. It was just so unreal – I couldn’t remember my audition at all. It was just a blur. But I’m really excited now, and I’m really looking forward to Sunday. It’s for a really good cause, and when you do a good thing it makes you feel good too, so I’m pleased to be involved.”
Georgia has also recorded 100 limited edition CDs, featuring her version of Feeling Good and a bonus track, which will be available at the afternoon event.
And £2 from every Sunday lunch sold on the day will be donated to the Sunshine Fund which works to help improve the lives of seriously ill and disabled children in the North East by providing specialist equipment, learning aids and custom-built apparatus.
Fundraising and events organiser Angela Jepson said: “It’s fantastic to have someone like Georgia supporting the fund. We are really looking forward to Sunday – its going to be a great afternoon.
“Our fundraisers work tirelessly to help provide specialist equipment for children with disabilities in the North East, and it’s through the generosity of our readers and events such as this that we are able to carry on supporting these children.”
Georgia will be performing between 1pm and 3pm in the restaurant on Sunday, May 16.
