Charity on the menu

04 May 2010

A TYNESIDE restaurant boss is to battle his way through two gruelling charity challenges.

Andy Hook, owner of Blackfriars restaurant, in Newcastle city centre, is set to take part in two of the UK’s harshest triathlons to raise money for the Evening Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund.

He will swim, cycle and run his way through the New Forest Triathalon tomorrow (May 2) before completing the Northumberland Castle triathlon in June.

Andy decided on his epic challenge after being inspired by his restaurant manager Liam McDonald, whose four-year-old son Aidan has cerebral Palsy.

He said: “Knowing that I’m helping the charity that supports Aidan and other disabled children in the North East makes all the training worthwhile.”
