Sunflower designs to raise cash for charity
WACKY sunflower creations will raise cash for charity this Easter. Michelle Ibbetson will be keeping youngsters busy with arts and crafts projects over the holiday period. The 48-year-old former House of Fraser window dresser runs Krafty Kidz, based in Low Fell, Gateshead.
And now she is giving youngsters the opportunity to get involved in a bid to raise cash for the Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund .
Michelle, who also lives in Low Fell, Gateshead, is charging children less than £6 to take part in sessions where they can make ceramics and creations. And for every item that incorporates a sunflower design, Michelle will donate at least 10% for the charity. The mother-of-two said: “We’re having a lot of events over Easter, and it will give children the chance to be creative with arts and crafts. “If they can design something with a sunflower on it, then I will donate at least 10% of it to the Sunshine Fund . “The charity is quite important to me because it involves children and it’s North East-based.
“It’s important the money stays in the region.”
In total, there will be 12 events over Easter giving youngsters the chance to get involved. Children pay to take part in the sessions and then buy the products they produce.
Michelle said: “The kids love doing the events as well. I do a lot of things for different charities and I enjoy doing it. “We are just raising as much money as we can. It all depends on how many come along. “We are also selling key rings in the Chronicle offices for £2, and half of that goes to the charity too.”
Sunshine Fund manager Jo Harris said: “We’re extremely grateful for the support. “We will use all the money raised to help provide more life-changing equipment for sick and disabled children in the region. “It’s thanks to these generous supporters we are able to continue helping as many families across the region as we do.”
