THREE WOMEN TURN TO BOOT CAMP TO HELP OUR CHARITY

Joining a war of nutrition

THREE slimmers are going pound for pound to raise cash for charity. Sam Reisner and two work colleagues have signed up to a beach boot camp in the hope of shedding weight. And the trio are hoping they can drop a dress size each and raise close to £1,000 for the Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund.

For three nights and one morning every week the group meet and do an intensive training session watched by a personal trainer. Today Sam, 23, who works in advertising and is from Jarrow, said she is feeling the full effect of her work-outs. The mother-of-one said: “The boot camp is ridiculously hard. We were coming to work and couldn’t walk for the first week because it was so difficult. “But we are feeling the benefits now and we even do exercises at work, like walking round the office or going out on our lunch “It’s quite exciting to be doing it. It’s affected us all and we all feel a lot better for it.”

She is doing the exercise with workmates Amy Sixsmith, 24, from Shipcote, Gateshead, and Sarah Hunter, 22, from Tyne Dock, South Shields.
The trio hope to lose a stone each in one month using a training and strict diet regime to help them.

So far they have lost five pounds each and are well on their way to hitting their targets thanks to the help of Paul Mort, a personal trainer. Sam, who has a three-year-old daughter Faith, said: “The whole thing started out being like hell but it’s good now. “We’re on course to lose what we wanted to and raise enough money. “We wanted to raise cash for the Sunshine Fund charity because we believe in it. “It’s North East-based and good to know the money is staying in the region. It’s for children as well which is also important.”

Sunshine Fund manager Jo Harris said: “We’re extremely grateful for the girls’ support. “We will use all the money raised to help provide more life-changing equipment for sick and disabled children in the region. “It’s thanks to these generous supporters we are able to continue helping as many families across the region as we do.’
