Apply for a Grant


Who can apply
The following are eligible to apply, as long as they are situated within the Evening Chronicle area:

  • groups of disabled children in special schools
  • learning units
  • hospitals
  • individuals in a family unit up to and including the age of 18

    The Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund endeavours to improve quality of life by providing financial help to purchase equipment, resources and learning aids that cannot be obtained via health or local authorities.

    Examples have included special seating for children with a learning and physical disability, a wheelchair for a young girl with a severe spinal condition and lighting equipment to assist a visually impaired child.

    What it does not fund
  • assistance for holidays/trips
  • contributions to general fundraising appeals
  • garden/home renovation or improvement
  • travel or car lease
  • childcare costs
  • professional fees/costs

    How decisions are made
    An advisory committee, consisting of representatives from Social Services, Health Authorities, legal advisors, the Evening Chronicle and the Community Foundation, meets approximately every eight weeks.
