A double delight

Twin boys with cerebral palsy are going to be able to get out and about with their friends after they were given trikes by the Sunshine Fund.

The Chronicle Sunshine Fund has provided Andrew and Vincent Underwood, 14, with the bikes, which, as well as being great fun, will provide good exercise.

It means the youngsters, who are usually confined to wheelchairs, will be able to get out and play with friends near their South Shields home now the summer months are on the way.

Their dad Andy, 34, and mum Kathy 47, were ‘blown away’ by the help and support they had received from the Sunshine Fund.

Andy said: “These trikes will make a big difference to their lives.

“When the warmer weather comes in it means they will be out all the time. Normally they are just in their wheelchairs.

“It means they can get out and play with other youngsters. It will be more of a normal experience for them and help with their general development.

“I am really blown away with the support we have received from the Sunshine Fund as we are with all the children’s charities.

“It is not only what they provide the boys with, it is how they go out of their way to be so nice.”

Hundreds of children like Andrew and Vincent have benefited from equipment paid for by Chronicle readers and local businesses through the Sunshine Fund.
